This is provided as a public service, in conjunction with the support of an unrestricted educational grant from Purdue Pharma .

This is a searchable database of over 30,000 references related to Cancer Pain and Palliative Care. The database was developed and is maintained by Dr. Nathan Cherny, who is the Director of the Cancer Pain and Palliative Care Service in the Oncology Department at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem .

The database provides you with an unrivalled gateway to the medical literature pertaining to all aspects of Pain and Palliative Care. We hope it will be of use to all clinicians and researchers working in this field.

The Integrated Oncology and Palliative Medicine Sevice at Shaare Zedek Medical center

The Cancer Medicine Service at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center provides fully integrated Oncologic and Palliative Care. All patients attending the Cancer Program are evaluated for physical and psychological symptoms and the adequacy of their social supports on a regular basis. Patients who are identified to have Palliative Care needs are immediately referred to the Palliative Care Service who assist the primary oncologist in providing ongoing care.

The Cancer Pain and Palliative Care program provides the following services:

Immediate symptom evaluation and management in the Oncology and Palliative Care Day Hospital.
Coordinated care programs to provide expert consultative care to oncologists, family doctors or home care programs.
An 22 bed in-patient care program for symptom stabilization and respite care.
Inpatient, home and ambulatory consultation service.
Undergraduate and postgraduate education
National referral center for difficult palliatice care problems.
Pro-active telephonic follow-up for palliatice care patients

The Cancer Pain and Palliative Care Service is actively involved in local and international projects.
